President of Qatar Olympic Committee Meets UN High Commissioner for Refugees

Doha, April 29 (QNA) - HE President of Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani, met today with HE Commissioner of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi, who is currently visiting Doha.
The meeting dealt with discussing bilateral relations and the support provided by the State of Qatar to refugees. They discussed the prospects and opportunities for cooperation between both sides in the upcoming period. The meeting also dealt with various topics related to the efforts of the UNHCR and its activities in 2024.
For his part, HE Grandi expressed gratitude to the State of Qatar for its continuous support to the programs of the UNHCR worldwide.
The meeting followed the annual meeting of the Board of Directors of the Olympic Refugee Foundation (ORF), held today in Doha with participation from Grandi who is also ORF Vice Chair. (QNA)
